Namibia, home to the oldest desert on earth, is where vast open landscapes stretch beyond the horizon and the crisp air tells the ancient stories of resilience and adaptability of the land, its people and its animals. This is where the legacy of Namibian meat is born.  As one of the least populated countries in the world, livestock production has been a life-line for generations of Namibians, and is deeply woven into the Nation’s identity.

As the first African country to add environmental protection to its constitution, Namibia showcases a strong commitment to preserving its natural resources together with preserving centuries of tradition and ancient methods of farming, which still supports communities today.

Ever Changing conditions requires adaptation and cultivates resilience. Namibian meat is more than just sustenance. Every bite tells the story of generations of farmers who have perfected the art of adaptability, producing meat which is naturally lean, tender and infused with the rich, earthy flavors of the land.

Unique Ear Tag Identification

Cattle in Namibia is assigned a unique ear tag number upon entry into the production system. This tag acts like a biometric ID, allowing for precise tracking of the animal’s history from birth to processing.

Centralised Livestock Database

All ear tag information is recorded in a centralized national database managed by the Directorate of Veterinary Services. This database stores vital information including animal origin, movement records, health status, and ownership history.

Movement Permits & Monitoring

Any transfer or movement of livestock between farms, auctions, or slaughter facilities requires official movement permits linked to the ear tag number. This ensures continuous monitoring and control over animal distribution.

Integration with Veterinary Oversight

Veterinarians update the database with health treatments, vaccinations, and veterinary inspections, ensuring that animal health data is up-to-date and accessible.

Traceability Through the Supply Chain

This system enables FAN Meat to trace meat back to the original animal and farm, supporting food safety investigations, export certification, and consumer confidence.

International Standards Compliance
